Maine's Newest Tourist Attraction
Penobscot Narrows Bridge and Observatory

The New Penobscot Narrows Bridge opened in October 2006. Besides being an impressive bridge, the bridge also features an observation platform on the top of one of the pylons from which visitors will see downtown Bucksport, Verona Island, the Penobscot River and Fort Knox State Park. The bridge is only 5 miles from Shady Oaks Campground.

Bugsport doesn't really exist except in the creative mind of Ted Bastien. a Toronto-based cartoonist. Click Here to see an article which appeared in the January 8, 2007 issue of the Bangor Daily News. We are pleased that Ted has vacationed at the Shady Oaks Campground for the past several years. You can see his Bugsport cartoon at http://www.tedsstudio.com/bugsport/page1.html and then while you are in the area drive up to the town of Bucksport and see if you can see any similarities between the two towns.
